Giambattista Valli is an Italian fashion designer. Born and raised in Rome, Valli holds a BA from Liceo as well a degree in Art. Influenced by his city, his Roman roots, Antonioni movies and fashion illustrations from Yves Saint Laurent and Gruau, Valli enrolled at the Istituto Europeo del Design of Rome, in 1986, and in 1987 he began a foundation course in illustration at Central Saint Martins.

Returning to Italy, he worked in the studio of Roberto Capucci. After two years at Capucci, in 1990 he moved to Fendi as senior designer for the newly launched Fendissime line. In 1995, Valli was appointed senior designer for Krizia womenswear. He later moved to Paris, joining Emanuel Ungaro as co-head of the design studio. In 2001 he became creative director for the ready-to-wear collections, the Ungaro Fever diffusion line, accessories and licenses.

Valli launched his eponymous brand with a ready-to-wear collection in March 2005. In 2011, Valli became a member of the French Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, showing on the official couture schedule in Paris. In September 2014, Giamba–a new ready-to-wear line–was launched with a runway show during Milan Fashion Week. Alongside his own brands, from 2008 to 2017 Giambattista Valli served as creative director of Moncler Gamme Rouge.
